See how Police Officer was Killed by Okada Riders in Lagos

An Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) from the Lagos State Police Command has been tragically killed in the Agege area. The incident occurred on Saturday morning when a group of irate commercial motorcyclists, known as Okada riders, reportedly attacked him.

The ASP had been leading a team to the WEMCO junction on Mobil Road to manage the aftermath of an accident involving an Okada rider and a truck. As they arrived, the team faced fierce opposition from the riders, who demanded that the truck be set ablaze.

Benjamin Hundeyin, spokesperson for the Lagos State Police, confirmed the incident and labeled the attack as unprovoked. According to him, the police received a distress call around 1:40 AM regarding the accident, which involved an Okada rider colliding with a trailer. Initial investigations indicated that the rider had crashed into the truck.

Sadly, the Okada rider lost his life in the incident. When the police team arrived, they were met by a large crowd of motorcyclists who resisted their efforts to remove the truck. During the chaos, the 46-year-old ASP suffered a fatal head injury, while the truck driver managed to escape unharmed.

Authorities have since arrested five individuals in connection with the attack, and a manhunt is ongoing for additional suspects.
