See Numbers of People Dead, Injured as Soil Collapse Occurs at Gujarat Factory Site

Tragedy struck in Gujarat’s Mehsana district on Saturday, where nine laborers, including two women, lost their lives and one was injured following a soil collapse at a stainless steel factory construction site near Kadi town, police reported.
The incident happened while the workers were digging a 16-foot-deep pit for a tank in Jasalpur village. Kadi police station inspector Prahaladsinh Vaghela stated that a rescue operation lasting about two hours involved fire brigade and police teams, along with fellow laborers. The bodies of nine workers were recovered, while one individual was successfully rescued. Most of the deceased hailed from Dahod, with three others from Rajasthan, all aged between 20 and 30 years.
In response to the incident, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his sorrow, describing it as “extremely sad” in a statement shared on X. He extended condolences to the victims’ families and wished for the speedy recovery of the injured. He assured that the local administration, under state government guidance, is providing all necessary assistance to those affected.
Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel also conveyed his condolences on X, stating that rescue efforts and prompt medical treatment for the injured were prioritized by the administration.
