Nasir El-Rufai Files Fundamental Rights Enforcement Case Against Kaduna House of Assembly

El Rufai
Malam Nasir El-Rufai has initiated a fundamental rights enforcement case against the Kaduna State House of Assembly and the Kaduna State Government.

El-Rufai appeared at the Federal High Court in Kaduna to sign an affidavit in support of his case. His lawyer, AU Mustapha SAN, stated that El-Rufai is seeking to ensure his right to a fair hearing, as provided by the Nigerian Constitution and the African Charter on Human and Peoples Rights.
El-Rufai is requesting the court to declare the Report of the Ad-Hoc Committee on Investigation of Loans, Financial Transactions, Contractual Liabilities, and Other Related Matters of the Government of Kaduna State from 29 May 2015 to 29 May 2023 unconstitutional. He argues that the report, ratified by the Kaduna State House of Assembly, violated his right to a fair hearing under Section 36 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999.
