Benjamin Hundeyin, the Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, announced that two officers from the Lagos State Taskforce are facing disciplinary measures following a fatal unauthorized operation.

Hundeyin shared this information on his X handle on Saturday, June 22, in response to viral videos showing motorcycle riders repeatedly running over a body in Lagos.

The police spokesperson explained that the officers had undertaken the unauthorized operation on Wednesday, accompanied by several civilians. The situation escalated when the group was attacked by motorcycle riders, resulting in the death of one civilian.

Hundeyin wrote: “On Wednesday, June 19, 2024, two police officers attached to the Lagos State Taskforce embarked on an illegal duty, bringing along civilians to bolster their numbers. They were attacked by motorcycle riders, leading to the death of one civilian. Disciplinary actions have commenced against the detained officers, and a search is underway for their civilian accomplices.
