Arsenal to Submit €100m Offer for Osimhen
Italian journalist Ciro Venerato reports that Arsenal are gearing up to make a formal €100 million bid for Napoli striker Victor Osimhen in the coming days.
This significant move comes as the Gunners aim to strengthen their squad with a top-tier striker ahead of the new Premier League season.
“Arsenal will make an attempt with Napoli in the next few days after many rumours,” Venerato shared. “The Gunners were also interested in Sesko, who chose to remain at Leipzig.”
Napoli has made it clear that Osimhen can be signed if his release clause, which is reportedly €130 million (£110 million) according to Fabrizio Romano, is met. If Arsenal were to meet this clause, Osimhen would become their most expensive acquisition, exceeding the £105 million spent on Declan Rice last year. However, Venerato notes that Arsenal hopes to negotiate a lower fee and has been in talks with Osimhen’s representatives, considering an offer around €100 million (£85 million).
Osimhen, eager for a new challenge, has expressed his ambition to play in the Premier League. Arsenal is one of two leading English clubs pursuing the Nigerian forward.
Chelsea is also vying for his signature, while PSG has shown interest in Osimhen as a potential successor to Kylian Mbappe, who has moved to Real Madrid.
Despite missing 11 games due to injuries and his participation in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast, Osimhen netted 15 goals in 23 Serie A appearances in the recently concluded 2023/24 season.
