See the Number of People Killed in Boat Accident in Zamfara

The Zamfara State Government has confirmed that 40 people have died following a boat accident in Gummi Local Government Area.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria, the incident occurred on Sunday when a boat carrying over 40 passengers capsized in the Bakin Kasuwa River, located in the Uban Dawaki community.
Sulaiman Idris, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Media and Publicity, described the accident as a significant tragedy. The governor has termed it a monumental disaster and instructed the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) to conduct immediate rescue operations and recover the bodies.
The governor has also directed SEMA to assess the impact of the accident and provide urgent assistance. Additionally, the Commissioner for Humanitarian and Relief Matters has been tasked with delivering relief materials to the affected families.
Governor Lawal has expressed condolences to the families of the deceased and affirmed the state government’s commitment to preventing similar incidents in the future. This disaster comes on the heels of a recent flood in the area that devastated over 2,000 homes, agricultural lands, and crops worth millions of naira.
