See the Numbers Dead as Amotekun and Local Hunters Rescue Four Kidnapped Victims in Oyo

A collaborative effort between the Oyo State Security Network Agency, known as Amotekun, and local hunters led to the successful rescue of four kidnapped victims, including the two wives and two sons of the traditional ruler, Baale Alagede, in Oyo State.

The victims were abducted in the early hours of Tuesday, February 25, 2025, from their home in Alagede village, located near Kola Daisi University in Akinyele, Ibadan. Upon learning of the kidnapping, Amotekun operatives, along with local hunters, quickly tracked the suspects to the thick forest of Ojutaye along Oretu Road. The security forces then launched a well-coordinated assault, resulting in the safe release of the hostages.

According to witnesses, a police team arrived after the operation, seizing the rescued victims from Amotekun agents who were preparing to escort them to safety.

Tragically, during the operation, a local hunter from Oretu village, identified as Ojo, lost his life. A video of his body surfaced online, shared by NaijaTodayNews. Authorities are now working to retrieve his remains for proper burial.

Despite the success of the rescue mission, Amotekun and the local hunters continued their search in the area, having narrowed down the kidnappers’ location. Authorities expect further updates on the ongoing operation soon.

When reached for comment, the Public Relations Officer of the Oyo State Police Command, SP Adewale Osifeso, stated that he was unaware of the incident but would provide information as soon as he received any details. “I’m not aware of the report, but I’ll get back to you as soon as I have any information,” he said.
