See the Numbers of Policemen Lakurawa Militants Killed, Steal Over 200 Cattle in Kebbi

Gunmen, believed to be members of the Lakurawa terror group, have killed two policemen and stolen over 200 cattle from Natsini village in Argungu Local Government Area of Kebbi State. The attack took place around 11 PM on Thursday.

Sources from the village reported that the policemen were stationed at a checkpoint along the Augie/Kangiwa road when they were ambushed by more than 50 armed militants on motorcycles. The assailants overpowered the officers before raiding a nearby ranch and driving off with the cattle.

Natsini village, located about 5 kilometers from Argungu town, is along the Augie/Kangiwa route. A local resident, Abubakar Augie, told Weekend Trust that the stolen cattle belonged to a well-known civil servant in the area, identified as Lawali Black.

“The Lakurawa group, numbering over 50 on motorcycles, attacked the police at the checkpoint and then proceeded to his ranch where they made off with the cattle,” Augie said.

Aliyu Gulma, the chairman of the local government, confirmed the incident and mentioned that a security meeting had been convened to address the attack. He added that state authorities have deployed security forces to track down the perpetrators and recover the stolen cattle.

Attempts to reach the state police spokesperson, SP Nafiu Abubakar, for comment were unsuccessful at the time of reporting.
