On Thursday, armed bandits ambushed security personnel on a highway in Zamfara, resulting in the deaths of three soldiers and four policemen. The Commissioner of Police for the state, Mohammed Dalijan, confirmed the incident to journalists in Gusau.
According to Dalijan, a security team was dispatched in response to intelligence about an imminent attack on a construction site by the bandits. Despite their swift response, the security forces encountered an ambush set by the bandits, who opened fire as the team approached.
Dalijan described the confrontation, noting that the troops fought valiantly to repel the attackers. He explained, “The bandits had planned to infiltrate the Setraco camp to abduct staff. We had prior information and sent our forces, unaware that the bandits had prepared an ambush. The ensuing gunfight led to the tragic loss of three soldiers and four police officers.”
