Self-Proclaimed Footballer Detained with 111 Cocaine Pellets
A 48-year-old businessman, Emmanuel Orjinze, was apprehended by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja for swallowing 111 wraps of cocaine. The arrest was confirmed in a statement by Femi Babafemi, the agency’s Director of Media and Advocacy, and published on the NDLEA website on Sunday.
The suspect, who professed to be a professional footballer in Europe, was detained on May 21 while boarding an Air France flight to Paris. According to the statement, NDLEA operatives arrested Orjinze, who subsequently expelled 111 cocaine pellets over several days in custody. The cocaine weighed 1.603 kilograms.
Orjinze also claimed to be involved in the maritime business and was seeking opportunities with European football clubs.
