The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has urged states in the central and southern regions to prepare for potential floods. Measures advised include clearing blocked drainages, constructing temporary flood barriers, and relocating from flood-prone areas to higher ground.
NEMA’s Head of Press Unit, Manzo Ezekiel, emphasized the importance of these preparations following recent floods and rising water levels in the River Benue and River Niger. The agency encourages residents to stay informed through updates from the Nigerian Meteorological Agency and Hydrological Services Agency, avoid crossing flooded areas, and cooperate with emergency services.
