Simon Ekpa Claims Responsibility for Killing Four Police Officers in Imo State

On Monday evening, gunmen attacked and killed four police officers and a civilian on the Onitsha-Owerri Expressway in Owerri, Imo State. Simon Ekpa, a Biafra activist based in Finland, has claimed responsibility for the assault.
Ekpa, who leads the Autopilot faction of Biafra agitators and founded the Biafra Defence Forces and Biafra Liberation Army, asserted that his group executed the attack. He labeled Nigerian security forces as “terrorists” and demanded their removal from the South-East region.
The attack occurred shortly after Ekpa announced a four-day sit-at-home order for the region. Calls for his extradition to Nigeria to face charges related to regional unrest have been mounting, with various groups, including the governor of Enugu State, advocating for his return. However, Finnish officials have stated that they cannot extradite him due to his rights as a Finnish citizen.
