Sit-at-home: See The People That Are Behind Soldier Killings – IPOB
The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) stated on Friday that politicians aiming to disrupt the peace in Enyimba city are responsible for the recent soldier killings in Aba, Abia State.
IPOB distanced itself from the incident, asserting that politicians employed criminals to carry out the attack.
In a statement signed by IPOB spokesperson, Powerful, the group emphasized its focus on the sit-at-home order and condemned the violence against soldiers.
“We denounce the attack on military personnel in Aba. IPOB had no involvement as the sit-at-home was meant to honor our fallen heroes and heroines, not to incite violence. Anyone accusing IPOB of the attack is misled. Politicians orchestrated this to destabilize peaceful Enyimba City. The governor of Abia State must be vigilant; these actions are meant to create chaos in Aba,” Powerful said.
He further clarified, “The perpetrators of the military attack are criminals, not IPOB members. Our activities are centered on commemorating those who perished in the genocidal war against Biafrans and Ndigbo. IPOB strongly condemns these criminal acts.”
On Thursday, unknown gunmen killed five soldiers in Aba during the sit-at-home called by IPOB to remember those who died in the Biafra civil war. The attack occurred at Obikabia Junction Checkpoint in Obingwa Local Government Area, near Aba.
