Supermarket Employee Faces Charges for Using Employer’s ₦900k to Play Bet9ja

A supermarket worker, Abiola Agbaje, appeared in Ejigbo Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, pleading guilty to using his employer’s ₦900,000 to gamble without permission.
Agbaje, 23, who did not provide his address, is being charged with theft and disturbing the peace. He admitted to both charges.
According to Prosecutor ASP Benedict Aigbokhan, the incident occurred on June 26 around 2:00 pm in Lagos. Agbaje used the ₦900,000, which belonged to his employer, Yemi Liasu, to place bets on Bet9ja without authorization, creating a situation likely to disturb the peace.

Magistrate K. A. Ariyo has postponed the case to July 12 for a review of the facts and sentencing.
