TCN Applauds Benue Community for Preventing Vandalism on Ugwuaji-Makurdi 330kV Line

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has confirmed that on Saturday, January 25, 2025, Tower T195 along the Ugwuaji-Makurdi 330kV transmission line was targeted by vandals at Watuolo village, Utonkon, in Ado Local Government Area of Benue State.
However, TCN highlighted that the community members’ swift action foiled the attack. Around 3 a.m. that morning, locals spotted suspicious behavior near the tower and were able to capture one of the vandals, while the others managed to flee the scene.
In a brief statement issued on January 29, TCN’s General Manager of Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, confirmed that the detained individual was handed over to the authorities.
“TCN expresses its gratitude to the residents of Watuolo village for their prompt response and alertness. We urge other communities with critical infrastructure to follow this example and take responsibility for safeguarding transmission assets in their areas,” Mbah said.
“As we continue collaborating with security agencies and local communities to combat vandalism, we encourage heightened vigilance from residents, as their role remains vital in this ongoing effort,” she added.
