Thief Pleads for Mercy from CRUTECH Students, Jumps into Well

Suspect
Calabar, Cross River State– In a dramatic turn of events, two thieves targeting female students at the Cross River University of Technology (CRUTECH) were apprehended after a failed robbery attempt. The culprits, armed with a knife and gun, had successfully robbed and injured several students before their victims raised an alarm.

The commotion attracted the attention of other students, who gave chase. One of the thieves was caught while attempting to scale a fence. The captured thief was subjected to severe beating by the aggrieved students. In a desperate plea for his life, he begged the students to allow him to jump into a nearby well, imploring them not to beat or burn him to death, citing his background as an “Ogoja boy” and cautioning that their actions could impact their future.

Despite his pleas, the students continued to beat him. In a final act of desperation, the thief struggled free and jumped into a well, which was later found to be full.
The following morning, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) and other police officers arrived at the scene to retrieve his remains from the well. The incident has sparked a conversation about the measures students take to protect themselves and the extreme consequences faced by those caught in the act of crime.
