Reno Omokri Proposes Revenue-Generating Plan for Nigerian Prisons
In a recent statement on his X profile, Reno Omokri suggested a controversial plan for how the Nigerian government can transform prisons into revenue-generating institutions. He argues that instead of spending money on prisons and prisoners, the government should leverage this population for economic gain.
Omokri’s proposal includes having prisoners work on farms to produce their own food, with any surplus being sold to the public. He also suggests that prisoners, including influential politicians who are incarcerated, should be utilized for labor on public infrastructure projects such as road construction. According to Omokri, their compensation would be their food and lodging.
He criticized the current expenditure on prisons, pointing out the disparity between the government’s spending on prisoners and the struggles of law-abiding citizens who are searching for food and housing. Omokri warned that this imbalance might provoke honest Nigerians to commit crimes just to receive free meals and accommodation in prison.
