Tinubu: Nigeria Is Stepping Into a Promised Era of Renewed Prosperity

Bola Ahmed Tinubu

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended warm greetings to Nigerian Muslims and the global Islamic community in celebration of this year’s Eid-el-Kabir, using the occasion to call for unity, sacrifice, and perseverance in the face of national challenges.

In a message released on Thursday, June 5, 2025, the President acknowledged the spiritual weight of Eid-el-Kabir, describing it as a moment to reflect on core values like devotion, sacrifice, and selflessness. “This celebration marks the peak of the sacred first ten days of Dhul Hijjah, a time for deep worship, good deeds, and gratitude for Allah’s enduring mercy,” he said.

Tinubu emphasized that beyond the religious meaning, Eid carries a social and civic message. “It reminds us to be resilient, tolerant, compassionate, and committed to building a stronger Nigeria,” he stated, pledging continued adherence to these ideals. He praised Nigerians for their patience and faith during the ongoing economic and institutional reforms.

Reflecting on the nation’s journey, the President acknowledged the difficulties faced but expressed confidence in the future. “Though the road has been tough and there were moments of doubt, the collective determination of our people and leadership is beginning to yield results,” he said. “The most difficult days are behind us. We are entering the era of renewed hope and prosperity that we envisioned two years ago.”

While recognizing that not all goals have been reached, Tinubu urged citizens not to lose hope. “We are not yet where we aim to be, but we’re making meaningful progress. Key economic indicators are beginning to show positive signs, and in time, every Nigerian will feel the impact.”

He reiterated that the reforms currently underway are designed to create real change in people’s lives—not just in economic numbers. “There are no shortcuts, but we are focused on laying a solid foundation for sustainable growth and development,” he noted, assuring that his administration will keep working in the nation’s best interest.

Reaffirming his commitment to the Renewed Hope Agenda, Tinubu stressed that prosperity and inclusive growth remain the ultimate goals. “This agenda was built to uplift every Nigerian, regardless of background or faith. Let us use this Eid to demonstrate kindness, generosity, and compassion toward one another.”

Addressing recent national challenges, the President expressed sorrow over the devastating floods in Mokwa, Niger State. “We mourn with the affected families and communities and stand ready to support recovery efforts. Let us offer prayers for the souls lost and the resilience of those left behind,” he said.

He concluded his message with a call for unity and prayer. “As we mark this sacred celebration, let us continue to pray for peace, our security personnel, our leaders, and for divine guidance on the path to a stronger, more united Nigeria.”

Eid-el-Kabir will be celebrated on Friday, June 6, with the federal government declaring June 6th and 9th as public holidays.
