Tinubu: Nigeria’s Story Would Be Incomplete Without My 2023 Victory

Bola Ahmed Tinubu, FRN President
Speaking at the 8th-day Fidau prayers for the late Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Adetona, in Ijebu Ode, President Bola Tinubu said that his win in the 2023 general elections was a vital chapter in Nigeria’s history.
He paid heartfelt tribute to the late monarch, praising his role in shaping his political journey. Tinubu noted that the late Oba had blessed him before the election, expressing confidence in his victory and even hinting at future success.
“Our national story wouldn’t be truly complete if I hadn’t won in 2023,” Tinubu said, adding that the late Awujale’s support and encouragement played a significant role in that outcome.
He lauded Oba Adetona for his wisdom, resilience, and unwavering support for democratic values, particularly during the June 12 movement.
Tinubu also expressed gratitude to Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun—whom he referred to as “Okanlomo Eleyi of Ogun State”—for his contributions throughout the monarch’s burial rites.
Governor Abiodun, in his remarks, urged the people of Ijebuland to remain united and continue to promote the principles of peace and integrity upheld by the late king.
In a sermon during the prayer, the Chief Imam of Gbagura, Professor Kamaldeen Bello, reminded all present of life’s brevity. “We will all taste death,” he said, encouraging everyone to live as though each day were their last.
The event was attended by prominent dignitaries, including governors from Kwara, Ondo, and Ekiti states, deputy governors from Oyo and Lagos, federal ministers, and other top officials.
