hi

President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday expressed confidence in his administration’s progress, acknowledging the vital role the National Assembly has played in supporting his government over the past 19 months. He reaffirmed his commitment to steering Nigeria towards a prosperous future.

The President made these remarks during a meeting with the leadership of the National Assembly, along with former principal officers, at his residence on Oyinkan Abayomi Drive, Ikoyi, Lagos. The visit, which was part of a New Year tradition, was led by Senate President Godswill Akpabio and preceded a similar courtesy call from members of the Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF).

In his address, President Tinubu emphasized that the Nigerian people remain the central focus of his administration’s efforts. “Our mission is to serve the people, and your visit today strengthens our resolve,” he stated. “May this New Year bring blessings, prosperity, and a brighter future to our nation.”

He reiterated that the ongoing transformation was not just for the present, but for future generations. “The work we’re doing today is for tomorrow, for the children yet to be born. Your dedication to this cause is invaluable,” he added.

The President also expressed a strong sense of determination, saying, “We are not a people to be oppressed; we will rise and build this nation. With your continued support, we are confident that we will reach the Promised Land.”

Acknowledging the positive influence of the lawmakers, Tinubu vowed to intensify his efforts, making bold decisions for the country’s advancement. “In our culture, we say that only a brave dog can catch the prey in the forest,” he remarked, underscoring his readiness to take the necessary risks for Nigeria’s development.

Senate President Akpabio, in his remarks, praised the President for his unwavering commitment to national reform, reassuring him of the National Assembly’s full backing. “As we work to restore and transform our nation, you are not alone. The National Assembly stands with you every step of the way,” Akpabio stated.

He further highlighted the positive economic indicators under President Tinubu’s leadership, including the success of Nigeria’s Eurobond issuance, improvements in business climate, and increased foreign investor confidence. “Your leadership has inspired investor confidence in Nigeria, and we are confident that the benefits will continue to unfold,” he said.

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, also expressed appreciation for the President’s support of the National Assembly, noting that many key figures in the current administration, including the President, Vice President, and other officials, were former members of the legislature.

“The National Assembly is united and more fulfilled than ever,” he said. “We have never had a time when our needs were met so promptly, and for that, we are truly grateful. We believe that 2025 will mark a turning point where every Nigerian will look back and be proud of this administration.”

The meeting concluded with a shared sense of optimism about the year ahead and a collective commitment to the continued growth and prosperity of Nigeria.
