Tinubu Urges Youths to Postpone Protest, Requests More Time to Implement Changes

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appealed to those planning protests against his administration’s policies to reconsider their actions.
Following a meeting with President Tinubu on Tuesday, Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, addressed the State House reporters. He conveyed that the President had directed him to inform Nigerians, particularly the youth, that their concerns have been heard and that efforts are already underway to address the issues.
“The President has asked me to reassure Nigerians, especially the young people contemplating protests, that he is listening to them,” the Minister said. “He takes their grievances seriously and is working diligently to ensure the country prospers not only for today but also for the future. He sees no need for the planned protest and requests that they give the government more time to respond to their demands.”
Idris highlighted recent government actions as evidence of the administration’s commitment. “Just today, the National Assembly swiftly passed the National Minimum Wage bill, which was transmitted only yesterday. This shows the President’s dedication to addressing the needs of Nigerians. Numerous other interventions are also being expedited for the benefit of the public, rendering a protest unnecessary.”
The Minister urged the youth to trust the President’s plans, adding, “The young people should listen to the President and give him more time to deliver the benefits he has promised.”
He also outlined additional measures taken by the government to alleviate the hardships faced by Nigerians. “The government has approved the distribution of grains and rice to state governments. This is just the initial step, and further support will continue to ensure that the intended beneficiaries receive the aid. It is crucial that these interventions reach those in need,” Idris stated.
