Tinubu Visits Anambra: APGA and Soludo Supporters Told Not to Wear Uniforms

In preparation for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s visit to Anambra State, members of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and various support groups backing Governor Chukwuma Soludo have been instructed not to wear any form of group attire during the official reception.
Insiders say the directive, which came from the Presidency, is intended to maintain a neutral atmosphere at the event and prevent any political interpretations.
The visit is reportedly at the invitation of former Commonwealth Secretary-General, Chief Emeka Anyaoku, and includes a stop at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, where an official engagement is set to take place.
There are concerns within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) that the President’s presence, particularly during a sensitive electoral period, might be misread as undermining their candidate in the state, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu. According to those close to the planning, one condition for Tinubu’s acceptance of the invitation was ensuring the event remains apolitical.
“This uniform issue was a specific requirement before the President agreed to visit,” a source involved in the preparations revealed.
Dr. Alex Obiogbolu, Special Adviser to Governor Soludo, reinforced the directive by advising all attendees to appear in plain clothes. In a public announcement, he stated, “All those attending the reception at Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka, for President Tinubu, should be in mufti. No APGA or support group uniforms should be worn.”
The measure is designed to underline the non-partisan intent of the visit, which includes the commissioning of projects initiated under Governor Soludo’s administration.
