Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda Driving Policy Reassessment for National Progress – Oyetola

The Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, on Monday emphasized that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda is making a measurable impact on Nigeria’s socio-economic landscape, particularly by prompting a critical reassessment of public policies to yield better outcomes.

Speaking at the maiden International Conference on Public Policy, Governance, and Development Agenda hosted by the Department of Public Administration at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Oyetola called on Nigerians to unite in supporting the Federal Government’s strategic reforms aimed at delivering tangible benefits to the populace.

Delivering his address through the Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, Oyetola, who chaired the event, highlighted the necessity for a renewed intellectual engagement that can drive meaningful changes in governance and spur progress throughout the nation.

Reflecting on the conference theme, “Building a Promising Future in Africa Through Policy Re-evaluation,” Oyetola said the continent stands at a pivotal moment. He stressed the importance of bold leadership and civic commitment in reassessing the developmental trajectory of African societies, particularly in Nigeria, to align with current global realities.

He noted that President Tinubu’s administration has shown a strong commitment to reform over the past two years, positioning him as a transformative leader whose vision deserves widespread national backing. According to Oyetola, reforming entrenched systems requires a shared resolve—both from the government and the citizens—to endure short-term challenges in pursuit of long-term gains.

The former Osun State Governor also advocated for strengthening partnerships between academia and government, urging for a more collaborative approach rooted in mutual respect and trust. He maintained that effective policy-making depends on such synergies and on honest dialogue that moves beyond suspicion and division.

“Africa—and Nigeria in particular—must seize this moment for introspection and recalibration. With a vibrant, youthful population, Nigeria has the potential to thrive in an increasingly competitive global economy,” Oyetola remarked.

He commended the university’s leadership and the Department of Public Administration for creating a platform that leverages academic insights to enhance governance and drive policy innovation across both public and private sectors.
