Tragedy Strikes AAUA: Missing Students Found Dead Near Ondo-Ekiti Border
A wave of grief has swept through the Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), following the discovery of two missing students who were found dead near the Ondo-Ekiti border.
The victims, Andrel Eloho Okah from the Department of History and International Studies, and John Friday Abba from the Department of Economics, had been declared missing about three weeks ago after they failed to return to campus.
According to sources close to the university and law enforcement, the students’ remains were discovered over the weekend in a bush area along the Akoko-Ekiti axis. Preliminary reports suggest they may have been murdered by their abductors.
A security official, who preferred to remain anonymous, confirmed the tragic news on Sunday, stating, “It’s unfortunate, but their bodies have been recovered from where they were dumped. Our operatives are working on retrieving them.”
The disappearance of the two 200-level students had triggered concern among their peers, who raised the alarm after several days of silence from the duo. A report was filed with the police as the search intensified.
A student, who requested anonymity, expressed the sorrow felt across campus: “It’s heartbreaking. The entire university is in mourning. There’s a heavy silence in the air. We never imagined it would end like this.”
Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade, acknowledged the incident but stated he would provide further details after gathering more information.
