Tragic Farewell: Pastor Dies Unexpectedly During Child Dedication Ceremony in Maiduguri
Tragedy struck at the Church of The Brethren (EYN) Moduganari in Maiduguri, Borno State, when Pastor Vincent Alaku collapsed and died while officiating a child naming and dedication service on Sunday, October 6, 2024.
Witnesses reported that Pastor Alaku was in the midst of the ceremony, microphone in hand, when he suddenly fell to the ground. Details surrounding the incident remain limited.
Church members have shared their grief on social media. One individual, Zaphaniah Kwaji, expressed condolences, stating, “We are heartbroken to announce the untimely passing of our pastor during the service. May he rest in peace.”
Another congregant, Tankwa Chokali, reflected on the shock of the event, saying, “This should have been a joyful occasion, but instead, we are left with immense sorrow. We will forever remember this day—October 6, 2024, has deeply affected us all.”
