Tragic Land Dispute: Man Kills Father in Imo, Pastor Arrested for Rape

A tragic domestic dispute in Imo State has led to the arrest of a 39-year-old man, Ifeanyi Odinka, who allegedly stabbed his 75-year-old father, Dennis Odinka, to death over disagreements regarding the sale of family land in Orlu.

According to a statement released by the Imo State Police Command spokesperson, Henry Okoye, the incident occurred in Amaifeke, within the Orlu Local Government Area. Police operatives from the Orlu Division apprehended the suspect on August 12, 2025. During initial questioning, Ifeanyi reportedly admitted to the crime. He has since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Owerri for further interrogation and legal proceedings.

In a separate incident also in Orlu, law enforcement authorities have detained Pastor Ikenna Emmanuel, a 32-year-old clergyman of Authentic Power City Church, over allegations of rape involving a 20-year-old woman. Police investigations revealed that Pastor Emmanuel and his associate, Franklin Chizoba, invited the young woman to the pastor’s residence under the pretense of conducting special prayers.

The victim was allegedly offered a drug-laced drink, which caused her to lose consciousness. It was during this vulnerable state that the two men are accused of sexually assaulting her. Both suspects have reportedly confessed to the crime and also admitted to engaging in homosexual acts. They were formally arraigned in court on August 12, 2025, and have been remanded in the Owerri Correctional Facility awaiting trial.

The Imo State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and maintaining law and order across the state. Authorities continue to urge residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious behavior to the nearest police station or via the emergency hotline: 0803-477-3600.
