Troops Eliminate Five Bandits in Kaduna, Seize Weapons, and Destroy Camps
Special Forces and troops from Operation Whirl Punch (OPWP) successfully eliminated five bandits during targeted patrols along the Kachia-Kajuru axis in Kaduna State. This was confirmed by Samuel Aruwan, the State Commissioner of Internal Security and Home Affairs, who provided detailed information on the operations aimed at securing the Maro-Enugu area within the Kachia and Kajuru Local Government Areas.
During a confrontation in the Dantarau community, troops engaged in an intense firefight with the bandits, resulting in the deaths of five outlaws. The military also seized a significant cache of weapons from the bandits, including two AK-47 rifles, a locally fabricated sub-machine gun, nine AK-47 magazines, 250 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, two motorcycles, and two handheld radio sets.
In a separate operation, the Air Component of Operation Whirl Punch successfully executed an airstrike on bandit camps in the Sabon Birnin Daji area of Igabi Local Government Area. According to human intelligence reports, several bandits were eliminated in this operation, and others were injured and may be seeking medical assistance in nearby areas.
Aruwan urged residents of the Igabi area to refrain from offering medical help to individuals of dubious character without notifying security agencies.
Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State commended the effective actions of the troops and the Air Component, led by Major General Mariyenso Saraso and Air Vice Marshall Nnamdi Ananaba, respectively. He praised their contributions to the state’s security and encouraged them to continue their vigilant efforts.
