Two TikTok Influencers Remanded Over Allegations Against Mohbad’s Widow

Two TikTok Influencers Remanded Over Allegations Against Mohbad’s Widow

In a dramatic turn of events, the Federal High Court in Lagos has ordered the remand of two TikTok content creators — Saheed Jamiu Osama and Uyime Godwin Udoekwere — following accusations they made against Omowunmi Aloba, the widow of late singer Mohbad, Eyes of Lagos reports.

The duo had publicly accused Wunmi of being involved in her husband’s death, staging a protest while holding placards that read:

> “Wunmi Killed Mohbad! Period! E No Go Better For Wunmi!”

The protest, which was captured on video, quickly went viral on platforms like TikTok and X (formerly Twitter), igniting online outrage and fierce debate. Many viewed the accusations as defamatory and damaging.

Court Charges and Remand

Presiding over the matter, Justice Ibrahim Kala charged the defendants with conspiracy, cyberstalking, and defamation, citing their social media posts and protest actions as grounds for the charges.

They were arraigned on several counts, with prosecutors arguing that their viral content constituted an attack on Wunmi’s character and incited public hostility.

Both men have been remanded at the Ikoyi Correctional Centre, pending further hearing scheduled for September 25, 2025.

A Digital Age Legal Landmark?

Legal experts believe the case could set a significant precedent regarding the boundaries of free speech, defamation, and accountability in Nigeria’s online space — particularly as social media continues to influence public discourse and activism.
