Candle Sale Goes Viral
In the viral clip, several prophets within the church were seen promoting candles to the congregation. A man with a microphone called out increasingly higher bids for the item—starting in the hundreds of thousands and climbing to ₦1.1 million, before finally settling at ₦1.5 million.
To the surprise of onlookers, one male congregant rose from his seat, walked to the front, and accepted the candle. He then knelt down at the altar, seemingly engaging in a spiritual or symbolic gesture.
Social Media Divided
The incident has stirred a mix of outrage and disbelief online. Many Nigerians have criticized what they see as the monetization of faith, with some describing the event as an example of “spiritual exploitation” in modern-day religious settings.
