Suspects

The Ekiti State Police Command has reported the arrest of a group of individuals accused of planning further violent acts in and around Ado-Ekiti, the state capital.

In a press briefing, Commissioner of Police Akinwale Adeniran disclosed that these suspects are linked to the recent murders of several Point of Sale (PoS) operators and a 62-year-old woman, Adeyemi Aina, at Fabian Junction on NTA Road in Ado-Ekiti.

The police chief explained that the suspects were apprehended at their various hideouts while plotting additional attacks against PoS operators and other traders. Notably, on July 6, 2024, a 56-year-old woman, Adeyemi Aina, was murdered by an assailant on a motorcycle who also stole around 155,000 naira from her.

Further investigation led to the arrest of Omowaye Ayodele in Akure, Ondo State, on July 26, 2024, in connection with the case. Ayodele confessed that Adeyemi Aina was shot and robbed by one Busari Lookman in his presence. This led to the arrest of Lookman by the Rapid Response Squad (RRS). Lookman subsequently admitted his involvement and implicated accomplices Onyema John Sunday and Ojo Temidayo, also known as YELLOW.

Searches at Lookman’s residence yielded a black cardigan he wore during the crime. Additionally, a tip-off led to the capture of Ajisafe Doyin (a.k.a. D-MONEY), Olabanji Joshua (a.k.a. BJ), Fasusi Femi (a.k.a. F.M), Adewale Femi (a.k.a. F.M), Adeolodi Olayosi (a.k.a. PEDRO), and Babalola Ezekiel.

Investigations revealed that between June 19, 2024, and August 5, 2024, the suspects had robbed at least nine PoS operators in various locations around Ado-Ekiti. During their arrest, police recovered a locally made single-barrel gun with a live cartridge.

All arrested suspects will face legal proceedings, and efforts are underway to capture the remaining fugitives. The Police Command urges the public to remain law-abiding and report any suspicious activities by calling 08062335577 or visiting their nearest police station.
