Why Army Launches COAS Intervention Projects – Lagbaja

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. T. A. Lagbaja, recently inaugurated several civil-military cooperation projects in Umuahia, Abia State.
At the event held on Friday in Ekeoba, Oriendu Autonomous Community, Umuahia North Local Government Area, Lagbaja explained, “The Chief of Army Staff Special Intervention Civil-Military Cooperation Projects were established to support communities connected to senior Nigerian Army officers who have achieved the prestigious rank of Major General through their commitment and service. It is a privilege for Abia State to host one of these distinguished officers, Major General Obinna Ajunwa, the Director General of the Nigerian Army Heritage and Future Centre.”
He elaborated, “These projects are part of our initiative to give back to the Nigerian people, recognizing them as vital partners in our progress. We ensure that each project is thoughtfully planned and executed in collaboration with the communities, aimed at enhancing local infrastructure and amenities.”
The newly inaugurated projects include two 40,000-litre water facilities, a community cottage hospital with an attached three-bedroom residence for doctors and nurses, a community hall, and a 500 KVA transformer.
Maj. Gen. N. C. Ugbo, Chief of Civil-Military Affairs, noted that these projects are part of the Nigerian Army’s strategy to address various security challenges while strengthening the positive relationship between the Army and the local community.
