Wike Faces Possible Disciplinary Action from PDP for Alleged Rule Violations

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is considering disciplinary measures against Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, for purported anti-party actions.
Umar Sani, Senior Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to former Vice President Namadi Sambo, indicated that the party’s disciplinary committee, chaired by Chief Tom Ikimi, is poised to take action regarding Wike’s alleged breaches of party regulations.
Sani emphasized that Wike is not exempt from party rules, stating that the establishment of the disciplinary committee is a response to his actions. “This situation has often been oversimplified as a conflict between Abubakar Atiku and Nyesom Wike,” he explained during an appearance on Arise TV’s Morning Show. “In reality, the key factor is the revival of the Governors’ Forum, which is now actively working to address these issues.”
He added that while a court order might prevent the removal of officials, it does not hinder the party’s ability to suspend or discipline its members.
In September, PDP Deputy National Publicity Secretary Ibrahim Abdullahi announced on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily that Wike had been summoned to respond to allegations of anti-party conduct. Abdullahi confirmed that Wike received a letter requiring his appearance before the disciplinary committee led by Chief Ikimi.
He noted, “Three weeks ago, we established two committees focused on reconciliation and discipline, with Wike being among those called to face the latter. The committee will investigate allegations of anti-party activities, which have been reported since the primaries. Complaints against Wike and other members have been compiled for review.”
Abdullahi also mentioned that some party members believe Wike should not have reached this point while still a member of the PDP, prompting them to voice their concerns to the party leadership.
