Wike Is the Real Betrayer, Not Mbah or Makinde” – PDP Group Fires Back

A political support group under the banner of PDP Frontiers for Change and Progress has responded sharply to recent accusations by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, labeling him—not Governors Seyi Makinde or Peter Mbah—as the true source of turmoil within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The group accused the former Rivers State governor of hypocrisy, claiming he has continuously fueled internal discord and is now playing the victim. They urged Wike to formally leave the PDP, arguing that his continued presence only stirs confusion.

Their rebuttal follows Wike’s declaration on Sunday that he was withdrawing from all informal arrangements intended to resolve the PDP’s leadership crisis. He had alleged that Makinde and Mbah obstructed reconciliation efforts, particularly around the retention of Senator Samuel Anyanwu as National Secretary and the withdrawal of legal actions related to Rivers State.

Wike claimed the Oyo and Enugu governors defied earlier consensus and plotted to push Ude Okoye as the new Secretary, thereby undermining unity.

But the PDP Frontiers dismissed his claims as misleading. Emeka Yellow Ikpegbu, the group’s national coordinator, argued that Wike has long been acting as a Trojan horse for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), while projecting blame onto loyal PDP stakeholders.

According to Ikpegbu, “Wike and his loyalists are the real saboteurs. They’ve been consistently destabilizing the party across states. He acts like a mediator, but his actions say otherwise. It’s time for him to leave PDP completely.”

He further alleged that Wike had already deserted the PDP in spirit after allegedly working against it in the 2023 general elections. “His attacks on key party leaders are strategic attempts to weaken resistance and dominate the party structure for ulterior motives,” he said.

The group also accused Wike of a pattern of betrayal, citing his fallout with past allies and political mentors. They questioned his credibility and loyalty, warning APC leaders, including President Tinubu, to be cautious in trusting him.

“How can someone who constantly turns against his own allies be trusted? Today it’s Makinde—his former G5 ally—tomorrow it could be anyone else. APC should beware of depending on someone with a history of political opportunism.”

In conclusion, the group urged all true PDP loyalists, including Governors Mbah and Makinde, to stay focused on reviving the party. They expressed confidence in the leadership of Governor Bala Mohammed, the BoT headed by Senator Adolphus Wabara, and the National Working Committee to steer the PDP towards a strong 2027 comeback.
