Wike Responds to Atiku: “Nigerians Have Rejected You”

Nyesom Wike
Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory and former governor of Rivers State, has strongly criticized former vice president Atiku Abubakar, calling him a “serial loser.”
Wike’s remarks came in response to Atiku’s comments following the recent local government elections in Rivers State, where the Action Peoples Party (APP) secured 22 out of 23 chairmanship positions. Atiku suggested that the election results indicated Wike’s lack of support from the people.
In a rebuttal, Wike pointed to Atiku’s repeated defeats in the 2019 and 2023 presidential elections as proof of his rejection by Nigerians. “We didn’t contest the local government elections, so how can he say we were rejected? Meanwhile, he has contested and lost multiple times, which clearly shows that Nigerians have turned away from him,” Wike stated during a luncheon honoring the 10th Legislative Assembly of Rivers State.
He added, “If Atiku believes that not contesting means rejection, then he should recognize that his own numerous failures indicate that Nigerians have also rejected him. It’s time for him to pack up and go home.”
