Wike Responds to Odili’s Comments: “You’ve Reduced Yourself to a Ridiculous Level”

Nyesom Wike
In a recent exchange of words, Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), responded sharply to former Rivers State Governor Peter Odili following controversial remarks made at a Christmas event. Odili had, during a festive ball held in honor of the current Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, praised Fubara for his courage in halting Wike’s political influence in the state.
Odili stated that Fubara had shown great fortitude in resisting Wike’s attempts to dominate Rivers, particularly through what Odili referred to as an unnecessary political conflict.
Wike’s spokesperson, Olayinka, took to his official X account to express his disappointment at Odili’s comments, criticizing the former governor for what he described as an embarrassing level of partisanship. Olayinka emphasized that Odili, who should be serving as an elder statesman, had instead undermined his reputation with such remarks.
“The comments made by former Governor Peter Odili about the FCT Minister are disappointing,” Olayinka wrote. “For someone who should be acting as an elder statesman, to reduce himself to this level of partisanship is quite ridiculous. Odili will soon receive the response he deserves from the FCT Minister.”
The war of words highlights the ongoing political tensions in Rivers State, with both figures maintaining contrasting views on the current leadership dynamics.
