Wole Oke Fires Back at Odeyemi: “Let Him Initiate Recall-My Mandate Is from the People, Not Political Merchants”

Wole Oke Fires Back at Odeyemi: “Let Him Initiate Recall-My Mandate Is from the People, Not Political Merchants”

Hon. Oluwole Oke

Attention of the constituency office of Hon. Wole Oke has been drawn to the recent comments by Diran Odeyemi, as published on the 5th of May, Monday, 2025, in the Punch Newspaper, where he challenged Hon. Oke to resign and recontest his seat on a new party platform, threatening to initiate a recall process if he fails to do so.

Let us remind Diran Odeyemi and the public: Hon. Wole Oke is a five-term member of the House of Representatives, consistently re-elected by the people of Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency, a feat that speaks clearly to his enduring popularity and acceptance among his constituents.

In contrast, Diran Odeyemi, who could not even win his Unit 2, NUD, Amlek polling unit in Ibokun, now seeks to dictate the political direction of a constituency he has never commanded electorally. He has never contested but was rather appointed by the party to an office he could have gotten if his popularity were to be tested at a poll.

Odeyemi was quoted as saying:

“If Wole Oke fails to take up this challenge, I am telling the whole world that the voters in Oriade/Obokun Federal Constituency will immediately commence his recall process.”

We are not disturbed by such empty threats. Diran Odeyemi is known more for noise than for actual grassroots support or electoral value. His record shows he brings little more than divisive rhetoric and boasts of political influence he has never demonstrated at the polls.

Diran has been known for all this political merchandising; it is just that the Adelekes have not seen that Diran carries no weight.

It is disheartening that Diran Odeyemi, a political merchant devoid of genuine value in his polling unit, would exploit the name of a man blessed by God for recognition. Diran’s history of political merchandising is evident; the Adelekes simply have not recognised that he carries no weight and has been paid to finally wreak havoc on whatever remains of the administration.

He is a paperweight politician who cannot live without recourse to crumbs from political officeholders within and outside his hometown.

But shameless is an understatement for a man who will milk anyone who comes to him to register his aspiration. We are aware of his pain. The real ATM that funds his fake lifestyle has been weaned off his mouth.

Therefore, we throw the challenge right back to him: if he truly believes in his own words and claims to represent the will of the people, let him proceed to initiate the recall process against Hon. Wole Oke. We are confident that the people who have repeatedly trusted Hon. Oke with their mandate will once again affirm their choice.

It is sad that the likes of Diran Odeyemi, a political merchant without any value back in his polling unit, tackless of his ward, will come out to use the name of a man God has made to get recognition.

Diran Odeyemi is not new to us, nor are his tactics. We await his so-called recall process and urge him to make good on his threat so the true will of Obokun/Oriade can be demonstrated once more.

His challenge and threat of a recall process appear to be political tactics rather than reflections of broad grassroots sentiment.

Diran Odeyemi lacks electoral value to fight Wole Oke. If anyone doubts the description of Diran Odeyemi, his public show of shame owing to the defection of Hon. Oluwole Oke, then he should be asked to pick a form next circle of elections to test his popularity even as a councillor in his ward.

It is unfortunate that individuals without genuine electoral value seek to exploit the name and reputation of a leader who has consistently delivered for his constituents.
