Woman Cancels Engagement After Fiancé’s Facebook Comment Sparks Concern

A Nigerian woman has reportedly ended her engagement after coming across a Facebook comment made by her fiancé that appeared to excuse infidelity, igniting online discussions about trust, values, and relationship warning signs.
The incident was shared on Facebook by Iruoma Chikaodinaka, who narrated the experience of her colleague. According to her account, the woman became deeply troubled after seeing her fiancé’s comment on a post, where he implied that a man’s unfaithfulness should not be grounds for ending a marriage, provided he fulfills his responsibilities at home.
The comment reportedly raised serious doubts for the woman about her fiancé’s mindset and what married life with him might entail.
Iruoma disclosed that the woman’s elder brother later stumbled upon the comment, took a screenshot, and sent it to her as a caution. He reportedly warned that continuing with the engagement could lead to long-term issues.
In her words, Iruoma wrote that her colleague returned the engagement ring shortly after reviewing the comment and reflecting on its implications.
The woman subsequently called off the wedding, choosing to walk away before formalizing the union.
Iruoma said she shared the story while responding to another trending relationship debate online, involving a man who reportedly cancelled his own wedding after clashing with his fiancée over a viral social media story.
Since the post went public, it has sparked mixed reactions, with social media users debating whether opinions expressed online should be considered serious red flags in relationships.
