In a devastating turn of events, 26-year-old Jenel Pollydore, a nursery school teacher and mother of three, was fatally shot by her former partner, identified as 21-year-old Shaka Vaughn Phillips, during a wedding celebration in Linden.

The incident took place on Saturday night at the R&R Hotel in Central Amelia’s Ward, where Pollydore had been attending a wedding reception with family members. According to police reports and witness statements, Phillips approached Pollydore outside the hotel, confronting her about unanswered phone calls. A heated argument followed, during which he allegedly drew a handgun and fired at her.
