Zamfara Bandits Now Accept Ransoms via Bank Transfers, Totaling ₦2 Million

In a troubling development, bandits operating in Zamfara State, Nigeria, have begun receiving ransoms through electronic bank transfers. Reports indicate that on October 3, 2024, a payment of ₦2 million was made to these criminals via a Moniepoint virtual bank account.
Investigations revealed that the funds were deposited into a Palmpay account linked to an individual named Musa Muhammad, who is believed to be associated with the bandit group. This information was shared by conflict journalist Bakatsine on his X social media account.
According to Bakatsine, following the initial ₦2 million transfer, the bandits demanded that additional funds be sent to a designated location. This incident took place in the Shinkafi Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
“After the transfer of ₦2 million, the bandits requested more money to be delivered to a specified site,” Bakatsine reported.
