2027 Elections: Rivers APC Pledges to Follow Wike’s Direction

The leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ahoada West Local Government Area of Rivers State has openly declared its readiness to abide by whatever political direction the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, gives ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The party’s local government chairman, Rejoice Otobo, made the declaration on Sunday during Wike’s “thank-you” visit to the area. Otobo assured the minister that the people of Ahoada West would remain loyal in appreciation of the projects and interventions he attracted to the locality.

“We are waiting for your guidance as we approach the 2027 elections in Rivers State. Wherever you lead us, we will follow, and whatever you instruct us to do, we will carry out,” Otobo said. “Both supporters and critics in this local government have agreed to align with your direction.”

Echoing the same sentiment, the chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the area, Ikechukwu Obuzor, pledged unwavering support for Wike, stating that the minister had restored hope to the people of Ahoada.

“We are solidly behind you. Wherever you decide to go, we will go with you. You can be assured that in 2027, Ahoada West will deliver the results you expect,” Obuzor said.

Earlier, the Chairman of Ahoada West Local Government Council, Chita Eugene, described Wike as the “political field marshal of the South-South,” praising his role in bringing significant development to Rivers State. He noted that the visit was not merely a courtesy call but a celebration of effective leadership and dedicated public service.

Also speaking, the member of the House of Representatives representing Ahoada West/Ogba-Egbema/Ndoni Federal Constituency, Victor Obuzor, said Wike had earned the loyalty of the people through his developmental strides, both as former governor of Rivers State and as a national leader.

In a similar show of support, the Seyi Tinubu Support Group, led by Chidi Amadi, pledged continued backing for Wike and endorsed President Bola Tinubu for a second term in office.

Responding, Wike said his visit was to express gratitude to the people for the massive support he and President Tinubu received during the 2023 elections. He recalled that Rivers State was once widely respected for its strong stance on good governance before, in his view, leadership failures set in.

The minister reiterated his opposition to a second term for Governor Siminalayi Fubara, arguing that Rivers State needs a trusted leader to reclaim its political relevance and developmental momentum.

“Rivers State is already earning respect again because of what we are doing in the Federal Capital Territory. Come 2027, we must correct the leadership mistake and restore the state to its rightful place,” Wike said.
