9mobile Unveils New Identity as T2, Embracing Bold Digital Future

Telecommunications provider 9mobile has officially transitioned to a new identity, rebranding itself as T2—a vibrant, forward-looking digital lifestyle brand aimed at accelerating Nigeria’s digital transformation.

During the relaunch event held in Lagos, CEO Obafemi Banigbe described the rebrand as more than a name change, calling it the dawn of a new era for the company.
> “This marks the start of a transformative journey for us. We’re evolving into something bigger, bolder, and more aligned with the future,” Banigbe said.
He highlighted that the rebranding reflects a strategic pivot towards becoming a tech-savvy, customer-focused enterprise. The new T2 brand positions itself as a dynamic platform built to empower Nigeria’s creative and entrepreneurial communities—supporting everyone from remote workers to tech startups.
> “We’re no longer just a telecom operator. We’re becoming a hub for innovation, a springboard for dreams, and a partner in the digital ambitions of every Nigerian,” Banigbe added.
Emphasizing the company’s commitment to speed, agility, and relevance, Banigbe said the brand’s new identity mirrors the resilience and creativity of Nigeria’s young population. The transformation includes a shift to a digital-first, cloud-native infrastructure that enables faster product deployment and hyper-personalized services powered by AI and data analytics.
> “In today’s world, success doesn’t go to the largest players—but to the boldest. That’s why we’re redesigning our systems to deliver real-time solutions, seamless self-service, and intuitive digital experiences,” he said.
Banigbe acknowledged the challenges 9mobile has faced in recent years but underlined the company’s resilience.
> “We’ve been through tough times, but like Nigeria itself, we always come back stronger. Our journey has made us tougher, more innovative, and ready to lead,” he stated.
He was clear that this transformation goes beyond surface-level branding. It’s a fundamental overhaul of how the company operates, with a laser focus on customer experience, simplicity, and emotional connection.
> “This isn’t just a fresh coat of paint. It’s a total reset. Going forward, delivering exceptional customer experiences isn’t a department—it’s our entire business,” Banigbe said.
Closing his remarks, he expressed gratitude to customers, partners, employees, shareholders, and regulators for their support, dedicating the relaunch to every Nigerian with aspirations for something greater.
“To every dreamer, innovator, and builder—this transformation is a message: You can evo
lve. You can begin again,” he said.
