Federal Govt Opens Renewed Hope Housing Delivery Portal

The Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Dangiwa, has launched the Renewed Hope Housing Delivery Portal, designed to provide access to 100,000 homes across Nigeria. This web portal, available to all Nigerians including those abroad, aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to removing barriers to homeownership.

During the launch event on Tuesday in Abuja, Mr. Dangiwa highlighted that this innovative platform offers a transparent, user-friendly online application system for purchasing homes under the ministry’s Renewed Hope Housing Programme, which was previously inaugurated by the president.

Mr. Dangiwa recalled that in December 2023, the ministry signed a Memorandum of Understanding with a consortium of developers led by Continental Civil to deliver these 100,000 housing units nationwide. He emphasized that the new portal is a key component of this partnership.

“The housing platform will also provide crucial data to help us implement a demand-driven housing strategy by identifying the specific needs of various locations and demographics across the country,” he said. He mentioned that the ministry currently has estates in 12 locations and three cities: Yobe, Gombe, Ebonyi, Abia, Nasarawa, Benue, Akwa Ibom, Delta, Katsina, Sokoto, Oyo, Osun, Abuja, Kano, and Lagos.

The platform includes features such as flexible payment options, including one-time payments and installment plans, to accommodate different financial situations. It also facilitates easy access to mortgage plans, allowing potential homeowners to check their eligibility and apply from anywhere. Additionally, the platform supports equity contributions for mortgages, simplifying financial planning for buyers.

Mr. Dangiwa noted that buyers could also use up to 25 percent of their Retirement Savings Account (RSA) balance for additional financial support. He encouraged all Nigerians to take advantage of this platform to apply for housing, emphasizing its transparency and open criteria.

Permanent Secretary Marcus Ogunbiyi remarked that the ministry, which previously handled housing delivery manually, is now breaking new ground by going digital.

Amiolemem Marcus, the Ministry’s Director of ICT, described the Renewed Hope Platform as a state-of-the-art web portal designed to enhance housing delivery and revolutionize the real estate and mortgage sectors in Nigeria. He highlighted the website’s key features, including its user-friendly interface and simplified registration, search, and application processes for homebuyers and developers.
