Okada Riders Attack Ipaja Police Station in Lagos Amid Protests Against Raids

On Thursday morning, a group of over 100 individuals launched an attack on a police station in the Ipaja area of Lagos State.

Witnesses suggested that the assault was a backlash against recent police operations targeting motorcycle riders, commonly referred to as Okada riders, in the locality.

The incident escalated into a gunfight, causing chaos and forcing bystanders to seek safety. Despite the intense confrontation, the police managed to fend off the attackers.

Benjamin Hundeyin, the Lagos State police spokesman, confirmed to Channels Television that the attackers were Okada riders retaliating against the police’s enforcement measures. He commended the officers of the Ipaja division for their effective defense during the assault.

While Hundeyin did not disclose whether there were any casualties, he assured that the situation had been brought under control.

Additional police units have been dispatched to the area to ensure order and prevent further incidents.
