Notorious Terrorist Leader Lawal Kwalba Surrenders to Troops in Kaduna
Lawal Kwalba, a notorious terrorist leader, surrendered to military forces on Thursday, May 28, 2024, amid intensified military operations targeting terrorist strongholds in Kaduna State.
According to a statement from spokesperson Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, the persistent military operations have been instrumental in exerting pressure on terrorist factions, prompting Kwalba and his fighters to surrender. This significant development is a crucial step in the ongoing efforts to combat terrorism in Kaduna State and the surrounding region.
During the surrender, troops recovered two AK-47 rifles, a motorbike, and two magazines loaded with 7.62 mm Special ammunition from Kwalba.
Kwalba is currently undergoing extensive profiling at a military facility, a process expected to yield valuable information to help dismantle remaining terrorist networks. The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its commitment to restoring peace and security in the region, noting that the surrender of a high-profile terrorist leader like Lawal Kwalba highlights the effectiveness of ongoing counter-terrorism operations.
