Benue: Gov Alia has abandoned Idoma people – Group give reasons and raises alarm
A group of prominent Idoma people from Benue State, under the aegis of the Idoma Proactive Diaspora Coalition (IPDC), has alleged that Governor Hyacinth Alia’s administration has abandoned the Benue Zone C Senatorial District.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by its president, Alechenu Amali, the group alleged a lopsided appointment policy by the current administration.
According to the group, all the primary appointments approved by the state government have been given to individuals of Tiv extraction.
further alleged that most of the projects executed by the state governor were directed towards Tiv land, neglecting the Idoma nation.
The group decried that despite the massive votes given to Alia by the Idoma people during the 2023 gubernatorial election, the governor has subjected them to the worst treatment ever.
Unfortunately, Fr Alia was voted for massively by the Idoma people, thinking that as a clergyman, he would be fair to the minority, but he has become even worse.
The Idoma people have now given up and can only turn to God or cry to the international community,”
he added.
