Labour’s Actions Against National Grid Amount to Treason, Says SGF Akume
In a meeting on Thursday in Abuja with the National Executive Council (NEC) of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) George Akume condemned the labour union’s interference with the national grid.
“Labour unions worldwide do not interfere with the national grid. Such actions constitute treason and economic sabotage. We are focused on rebuilding the economy, with the president leading the efforts, and such disruptions are counterproductive,” he stated.
Akume also discussed government initiatives to alleviate economic hardship, assuring that Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses, rice, and other essential goods would soon be available to Nigerians.
“We are actively addressing the issues, evidenced by the implementation of the N35,000 wage increase, which surpasses the minimum wage. Distribution of buses is imminent, and essentials like rice will soon be accessible,” he noted.
He emphasized the need for the church to collaborate with the government in providing infrastructure for the public, particularly in education, health, and agriculture.
