The autopsy report for the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has been released, indicating potential causes of his death. Conducted at Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), the autopsy involved retrieving samples from Mohbad’s gastric content, blood, bone marrow, liver, kidney, and lung for toxicology testing.
The report noted an injury on Mohbad’s right forearm and that his body was exhumed with signs of moderate to severe decomposition. Toxicology results revealed the presence of Diphenhydramine, an antihistamine, but not at fatal levels. The findings suggest the possibility of a drug reaction or anaphylactic shock as a potential cause of death. However, the absence of embalming before burial and the eight-day period before exhumation may have impacted the toxicology results.
The report states: “Following the Order for Exhumation, the body was exhumed on 21/09/2023 (8 days after the burial)………..in the light of the foregoing, cause of death could not be ascertained. However, the possibility of a fatal anaphylactic shock (drug reaction) could be considered in view of the absence of any significant post mortem and toxicology findings.”
Mohbad’s death on September 12, 2023, was surrounded by mystery, leading to several arrests, including that of an auxiliary nurse who administered an injection before his death. The police identified the nurse, Feyisayo Ogedengbe, as the prime suspect, as she admitted to giving Mohbad an injection following a request from his father, Joseph Aloba.
Lagos State Police Commissioner Idowu Owohunwa revealed that the nurse administered multiple potent injections, including tetanus toxoid, paracetamol, and ceftriaxone, at Mohbad’s residence. These injections triggered severe reactions, ultimately leading to his death.
Commissioner Owohunwa stated, “Her actions of administering doses of Tetanus Toxoid, Paracetamol (IV), and Ceftriaxone injection (IV) on Mohbad at his residence on 12th September 2023 immediately and directly triggered the reactions (including vomiting, goosebumps, convulsion) that eventually resulted in the singer’s death.”
He further emphasized that as an auxiliary nurse, Ogedengbe was not qualified to administer such medications or perform as a licensed nurse, particularly in a non-clinical setting, which exacerbated her professional negligence.
Additionally, Naira Marley, Sam Larry, and Primeboy were also arrested in connection with Mohbad’s death.
