Rabiu Ibrahim, one of the suspects arrested by the Federal Capital Territory Police Command in connection with the murder of Brigadier General Uwen Harold (retd.) in Kabusa, has explained the reasons behind the crime.

In a confession video obtained by PUNCH Metro, Ibrahim stated that they attacked the retired general with knives because he attempted to shoot them with his gun. The gang also stole the victim’s phone and laptop after the killing.

Speaking in Pidgin English, Ibrahim narrated, “My name is Rabiu Ibrahim from Kano. I was arrested for robbery. We stole his phone and laptop. We had two knives. Kazeem stabbed him in the belly, and I stabbed him in the arm. We killed him because he had a gun and tried to shoot us.”

When asked if he knew the victim was a retired military officer, Ibrahim said he did not.

FIRST CLASS GISTS reported that four suspects were arrested on Sunday by FCT police operatives in connection with Harold’s murder at his home in Kabusa on Saturday. The robbers reportedly attacked around 3 am.

The Chairman of the Board of Trustees, REMNAF, Abiodun Durowaiye-Herbert, confirmed the timing of the attack in a telephone interview.

During the parade of the suspects in Abuja, FCT Police Commissioner Benneth Igweh announced that two additional suspects were at large and had been declared wanted. He assured the public that the general’s pistol would be recovered from the fleeing suspects.

“Today, I want to inform you that we have caught the killers of Brigadier General Harold. They are Ibrahim Rabiu, Nafiu Jamil, Aliyu Abdullahi, and Mohammed Nuhu, plus two others we are declaring wanted. They raided his house and killed him,” Igweh said.

He added, “We have recovered the knives they used in the attack and the general’s phone. We are pursuing the remaining suspects and will recover the stolen pistol.”

Igweh also revealed the arrest of the chief informant, logistics suppliers, and a PoS operator working with kidnappers in separate operations. One suspect, Sunday Musa, confessed to distributing about N20 million for the kidnappers.

“Sunday Musa, also known as Dan Gwari, is the chief informant and logistics supplier to several kidnapping groups under the command of one Ardo, currently on the run. Musa confessed to facilitating the movement of nurses, hard drugs, and sex workers to the kidnapping groups and distributing money for them,” Igweh stated.

“Musa admitted to receiving N300,000 as compensation once and disclosed that the group, led by Ardo, has over 15 members armed with AK-47 rifles,” the police commissioner added.
