Kaduna Police Arrest Over a Thousand Suspected Criminals in Two Months, Recover Arms; See total numbers

In a recent announcement, the Kaduna State police reported the arrest of 1,137 suspected criminals over the last two months. The arrests, detailed by Police Commissioner Audu Dabigi during a press conference at the command’s headquarters in Kaduna, included 73 armed robbers, 79 kidnappers, and 985 phone snatchers.

Commissioner Dabigi also highlighted the recovery of five AK47 rifles, seven locally made rifles, 1,817 rounds of ammunition, eight vehicles, and seven motorcycles during this period.

Among those arrested was Naim Mikaila from Kajuru, who was caught with 100 pieces of railway tracks without a valid explanation. The police also apprehended eight notorious armed robbers, three receivers of stolen goods, and a cybercriminal known for unlocking phones and altering IMEI numbers.

Suspects Khalid Lawal, Abdulhamid Zubairu, and Musa Yusuf were nabbed by the police surveillance team on Yakowa Expressway, Kaduna. Their confessions led to the arrest of Aminu Aliyu (a.k.a Bosho), Idris Ibrahim, Musa Muhammed, Abubakar Lawal (a.k.a Dan Master), and Alhassan Musa. The group mainly targeted hotels such as ABELLO, Geometry, Harmony, and Apple Gate, robbing guests and staff of valuables including vehicles, mobile phones, and computers. In one incident, the suspects severed a victim’s right hand. Police recovered two cars, a tricycle, a motorcycle, and 22 mobile phones from the gang.

Additionally, an AK47 rifle, a locally made pistol, and three cartridges were found in the possession of a 70-year-old man suspected to be a bandit, who was arrested in the Tudun Wada area of Zaria.

Commissioner Dabigi expressed his gratitude to Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun for his unwavering support and guidance, and also thanked Kaduna State Governor Senator Uba Sani for his continuous commitment to improving security in the state. He acknowledged the crucial support and cooperation of the residents, which he credited as being fundamental to the police’s success.
