Human Rights Lawyer Adegboruwa Calls for Immediate Suspension of Nationwide Protests; Give Reasons

As hunger protests continued for the second day across Nigeria, human rights lawyer Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa urged Nigerians to immediately halt the demonstrations. In a statement released on Friday, Adegboruwa addressed the losses incurred during the protests, emphasizing that the initial purpose was not to cause harm.
He stated, “I urge the protesters to withdraw from their various protest grounds and suspend the protests indefinitely to allow for meaningful dialogue and engagement with the federal government.”
Adegboruwa expressed concern that the protests had been hijacked by sponsored agents, leading to unnecessary losses and casualties. He called on the organizers and their representatives to embrace dialogue.
“My heartfelt condolences to the employers and families of the security personnel and to the protesters. I pray that God will comfort them and give them the strength to endure these irreparable losses,” he added.
Furthermore, Adegboruwa urged President Bola Tinubu to address the nation directly and engage with the protesters through their representatives.
According to FIRST CLASS GISTS, Adegboruwa is a lawyer for the Take It Back Movement, one of the groups involved in the ongoing protests. On July 26, 2024, Adegboruwa wrote to Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, on behalf of the group planning the #EndBadGovernance protest, requesting police protection for the
protesters.
